Guest stevenz Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 (edited) Does anyone know why apps like "Messages" and "Notes" keep restarting not long after killing them with Taskiller, despite the fact that I'm not using them and all notifications from them and widgets that use them are disabled? PC Sync (even when not plugging in), Notes & Messages seem to be the worst offenders. I'm hesitant to remove Messages in case Handcent packs up for some reason, and I have used Notes on occassion. Taking up the RAM is less of an issue than the fact they (Notes & Messages) seem to be using CPU for something, hence reducing my battery life. Mod 2.9/Tek 1.9 Edited November 30, 2009 by stevenz

You can pay/download this app called "Autostarts" which you can tell which applications you can stop from loading up after activities on the phone (i.e. start up, receiving/making calls and texts etc). Whatever you do DON'T KILL THE MESSAGES app. I did this and I got NO text messages on my phone until I unkilled the messages app...

Hmm, so that must handle receiving everything regardless of what app actually deals with them (Handsent/ChompSMS etc). Good to know! :D I'll check out Autostarts, cheers. EDIT: Yep, Autostarts has tidied things up a bit, handy app. I actually did kill the Messages sms & mms clients that were starting as it looked like Handcent duplicated both of them and everything still seems to work as well as it was, so I'll see how I go. It's quite interesting to see how the phone does things with incoming tasks. Edited December 1, 2009 by stevenz
