Telus radio?

I didn't take note of what radio my Telus Hero was before I updated it. Would the fact that it's a 850/2100 unit rather than the "usual" 900/2100 one make any difference to the baseband version, or is that all handled in hardware?

I just ask as my reception is terrible and I'm wondering if I'm only receiving on the 2100mhz band here instead of the 850 which has much better coverage.

Anyone with a Telus model notice a different version?
