Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 I got it working! When I roll MCR 1.4, it will be based on this, the ROM from the U8230 on Bouygues in France! :D Improvements... - NO PINK! No branding at all! - new ROM core - new TouchPal version - very slim and fast - updated roadsync and documentstogo Pics below! :( P Edit: now with ROM download! Download superceded - details in this topic
Guest mapero Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) Sounds great :D I hate "MyGroups" and i am happy that it is gone from the desktop on ur screens :( Edited December 1, 2009 by mapero
Guest joners Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Wow thats great news, thats what everyone has been after! Not sure if its just me but the links to the screens dont seem to be working, they fail to load for me (could be my corporate webfilter though).
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Just realised it's the stock launcher, not the Pulse specific one! P
Guest mupra Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 You are my hero!! (not the htc one) (and when will the MCR 1.4 comes out? :D)
Guest bounty123 Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Thats great news! I would vote for a very sleek, minimalistic custom ROM, where users can decide what apps to install and what not, just the bare necessary ones are included in the ROM. i don't need roadsync or the stupid block breaker, would be glad to see them gone.
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Gets my vote too! Unfortunately the Pulse is now my missus' main phone, so I have to try and prise it out of her hands... :D P
Guest McSpoon Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Très bien monsieur Paul. So how did you get it to install?
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 I'm uploading something for you all to play with now! Basically I... - downloaded the update from huaweidevice - extracted the update - hexedit the update file to extract the boot image and system partition - unpacked the system partition and repacked it into zip format - booted it and it didn't work - replaced the boot image with the MCR one (until I have time to find the problem) - booted and it did work - made it into an update zip for you guys to check out - uploaded it (in progress) :D P
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Pondering buying another Pulse just for ROM dev now... P
Guest klutsh Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Pondering buying another Pulse just for ROM dev now... P At the current bargain price can you really afford not to?
Guest superl Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! how did you manage to do that !!!!! I try this morning and I failed!!!!!!!!!!! explain me please i'm very interested!!! and give me the link !!!!!!!! :D thanks !!!!!!
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 At the current bargain price can you really afford not to? It's still technically a phone I don't need... :D P
Guest superl Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 i try to change some infromation from the rom file but it did not work! I suspected that the app file is a whole boot.img and zip but I do not know where the cut!
Guest superl Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 thanks Paul !! do you explain how you do that ? thanks
Guest stupidm4n Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Does the camera have gps tagging now ?
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Haven't played with the ROM, you guys tell ME what it has! :D P
Guest mapero Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 This is stock, unrooted, use at your own risk etc. etc., posted only to let you guys have a look! When its unrooted, i can still get back to recovery rom via bootloader and flash back my nandroid backup? If yes, ill give it a try this evening.
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Yeah, you can just put it in bootloader (vol down and end then power) then fastboot the recovery image to restore your nandroid backup. I did exactly this. :D P
Guest McSpoon Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Well it fixes the barcode scanner and shopsavvy camera issue. I just did a nandroid backup; then installed it; played around for a few minutes; switched to recovery mode using "adb shell reboot recovery" and restored my nandroid backup and everything is back as exactly it was before the install.
Guest Paul Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Any reason you can see not to use it for the next MCR? Is the Camera app OK? P
Guest stupidm4n Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 has anyone got the pc suite drivers so i can test this out please
Guest xangma Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 (edited) why aren't we just going to use it? Does wifi not work? Can I install it using adb? EDIT: I flashed it by selecting the zip in the recovery mode thing. I hope this is right =/ Rebooting now. Edited December 1, 2009 by xangma
Guest McSpoon Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Any reason you can see not to use it for the next MCR? Is the Camera app OK? It's fine. It does seem better unbranded. Might take a bit of getting use to at first. There is a Bouygues app which could be removed and update the OpenGL-ES library (as it has the slow one). But I completely agree, it's probably more stable than the T-Mobile version.
