Guest CitizenLee Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 I think agent-5 put it better than I could! Some very good points raised. I'm just going to buy another USB cable for mine so I can charge at work and at home.
Guest arclife Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 something to consider though about chargers. The Hero charger is 1000mA, a USB port can give you 500mA. A lot of the USB chargers on ebay and the like are rated for 500mA devices. Be careful. I had to buy my girlfriend a new charger after the Hero popped the voltage regs in her Zen charger... oops If you are going to buy a cable for charging, make sure you do just buy a normal USB cable.. don't waste money getting an HTC one.
Guest scuj1 Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Not to be pedantic, but on the technical details on the above link, the battery is only rated at 2800mAh :D
Guest FenriZ Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 (edited) As I already wrote here, I got the battery from FoneM8 and it has in fact 3000mAh: Just wanted to let you know that my new battery has arrived yesterday. It is in fact a 3000mAh-model and it works very well. The Hero seems a bit bulgy now, but I am willing to pay that small price for extended operating time. The battery is still untrained, but after 24h of heavy usage incl. 3G and Wifi, listening to some music via the speaker, some calls, mail via K9 push and twittering via Twidroid it is still at 50%. Normally I would have had to load the battery already. I guess the performance will get even better over the next days once the battery is fully trained. Cheers, fenriz. EDIT: Some technical details: - the phone is now about 1.7cm thick with the new back cover and the battery inserted (that is about 0.67in for you guys on the island and in the US of A :D ) - inserting the battery is a bit cumbersome, but once it is in place it fits tight and nice - the new back cover blends in quite well with the grey hero, though it leaves a very tiny gap on the left behind the volume buttons; apart from that it fits perfectly and has a similar touch to the original material Edited December 2, 2009 by FenriZ
Guest rico2k_uk Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Why not buy a cheap AA charger from Tescos? I got one, its a small tube with a AA battery inside. It plugs straight into the usb charge point on the hero and gives it extra juice when needed! It weighs next to nothing, and pretty easy to keep around. I have one in my car and one in my bag that I take around with me. Simples (and cheap!)
