Guest pina Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) 2 weeks ago, I installed 2.9 Modaco on my Hero and I'm very pleased with Modaco :D The next step I would like to check out is installing Debian on my Hero. Does anyone know a comprehensive guide of how I should start installing Debian on my Hero? Or are there other, better distributions of linux for our Hero? Edited December 3, 2009 by pina

Guest pina Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 there you go http://android.modaco.com/content/forum/29...unning-on-hero/ I saw that topic too, but I don't understand what they are talking about...I see a bunch of codes, scripts, installer.sh etc... I didn't understand anything of rooting before, but I read and saw the tutorial at theunlockr.com and now I understand it very well...
Guest kendon Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I saw that topic too, but I don't understand what they are talking about...I see a bunch of codes, scripts, installer.sh etc... if that is what you there, then, with all due respect, please forget about installing debian on your hero. first thing, it is not "installing" at all, it is a chroot into a debian environment. second, if you don't know what we were talking about in the thread i linked you wouldn't know what to do with debian on your mobile anyway. it is only three pages, you can read that in maybe ten minutes, and all you need to know is in there. there is at least two complete sets of instructions (one written by myself). if you can not deal with that you need to figure out the linux basics first. again, no offense intended, but if we explain you how to "install" debian on your phone you still wouldn't know what to do with it. it is not like you could use it as a replacement for the android, actually imho it is on the edge off being usable at all...
