I don't know what to suggest fix wise....but I know alot of the steps seem like they have frozen, they actually just take a long time so dont pull the battery again if you fix the phone !

Try this website mate, don;t know how accurate it is, and don't know if it will help. But good luck

Please do not dual-post.

If nothing else, it's a good example why the first post in the Modaco ROM thread states:

ENSURE YOU DO A NANDROID BACKUP SO YOU CAN 'ROLL BACK' IF REQUIRED!

Good luck :D

you just double-posted yourself. and still a backup won't help if the phone won't even boot into recovery.

For anyone else who thinks about battery yanking - don't :D

Seriously, when upgrading (applying a zip) from a recovery image, you should still have ADB access over USB.

On the 3.0 upgrade, I ensured I was connected, ran "adb sh" and periodically ran "ps" to check what the handset was doing.

I did this ESPECIALLY when 3.0 first rebooted, as it sat for AGES (around 4 mins - which is ages when you're staring at £350 of maybe dead device!) - just the HTC logo on the screen. Turned out the bootup script was running, apparently rebuilding the caches. Once done, up popped the phone.

As everyone has said above - ALWAYS do a backup (although admittedly if you can't get into recovery afterwards, you are possibly hosed), ALWAYS be patient, and MAYBE use the adb/ps check to ensure something is going on.

If your phone is not showing charge LEDs, or being picked up by the PC, it may imply one of three or four things :

1) The battery is completely flat - some phones won't engage a charge LED until they have a minimal charge. Plug the phone into a charger for a couple of hours and LEAVE IT. I have a Motorola phone which will either not respond, or if it does, will come up saying "Battery critically low - BOOT DENIED" - until it's got enough juice.

2) Try another USB cable - it's possible it's dead & not connecting

3) Check you have no crap in your USB socket (it does happen...)

4) You have an expensive paperweight - in which case if it won't respond at all, maybe someone has some JTAG info? (or it's an RTB...)
