"a zImage file - which I think can be renamed to boot.img and flashed"

No, apparently a boot.img is a special kind of .img file (different format to system.img, which is a yaffs2 image). It contains the kernel and the ramdisk.img (which I think *is* a yaffs2 image).

See here: http://android-dls.com/wiki/index.php?titl...ack_Boot_Images

While this is a great page please don't follow the instructions to the letter.

The pulse has a different partition order make sure you do cat /proc/mtd as specified and use the correct partition number for the boot partition.

I have used this process successfully on the pulse.

Ok let's keep it english here :) The guys here at modaco are working hard to get it up and running from scratch (as you can see on this forum as well), and there seems to be an official promise for an update (to 2.0 maybe), for the 1st quarter of 2010.

Well happy new year as well, but the T-Mobile Pulse is made by Huawei, NOT by HTC.

T-Mobile have stated that Android 2.0 will be delivered Q1 2010.

I am sorry! I do not speak in English. Excuse me for the wrong speech.

The big idea. I am waiting, very much... :)

I know this is a really old thread, but I'm really wanting to get 1.6 or 2.0 on my pulse rather than 2.1 because of the problems

I looked throgh forum and see nothing on 1.6 or 2.0 for the Pulse. Has it been developed?

Don't think your reading up right, the problems have all been solved with the official hungarian 2.1 ROM. Any of the custom ROM's on here works awesome!

The thread I saw said that Vibration doesnt work and widgets cause a crash.

Can you show me the thread that says otherwise?

Also, I'm a bit worried about a few things using ROMs from here. First off, I live in Germany, so will loading a non-german ROM make my network incompatible, or does the ROM have nothing to do with network and other such behind the scenes things?

Basically I want a new OS because 1.5 sucks. It is also very slow.

2.1 ROMS on here are the best you are going to get right now until the guys get 2.2 working.

I live in the Netherlands (T-mobile) and I'm still able to use the network. Changing phone software has no effect on the ''behind-the-scene'' things.

The 2.1 betas were quite buggy, but I've had no crashes, freezes of any sorts using this Vanilla rom, and I've got a load of apps/widgets installed/running.

If that happens you have not flashed your phone correctly. Vibration and widgets work fine if you update correctly.
