Guest billmach Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Ok so i did a device upgrade and moved from the Krave to a new i910 omnia. Quite the learning curve lol im glad im a windows user my question is this. I find all kinds of free apps for the omnia but when i go to install them i cant get them to run. i move them to my mini sd card then to my phone and i find them ok but the install on them opens in oprea?? huh? how do i change this? and as a side note i already installed spb shell. and is there anything other than the windows sync software thanks for any advice
Guest amb123 Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Welcome, Not all WM applications can run on omnia. To make sure that they are compatible with your phone you need to check: 1. What screen resolution an app is designed for. Remember omnia I900 is wqvga not wvga/vga resolution phone. Omnia I8000 is wvga phone on the other hand. 2. What version of WM the app is designed for (PPC. WM2003, WM5, 6, 6.1, 6.5). Most of the apps can work on all of them, but some won't. 3. some apps require installation to phone memory and not to the internal storage or SD card. 4. Most of them nowadays require net.compactframework 3.5. (you can download it from microsoft website and install via active sync) This is just a beginning. If you like to explore, you can find lots of information on the web about wm phones in general and omnia in particular. Check out http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ site for apps. They usually post the requirements for each piece of freeware posted. Have fun!
