Data Usage

Hello,

I have been with orangeuk for over a week now I have seen that Orange website offers some kind of data meter on their website.

However is there any program on the market which will measure the data usage on the Hero itself?

I am not heavy email user but I have k9mail synchornization on every 3 hours. However I found out that the K9mail gets emails from the inbox almost instantly. For example when I send an email to myself from the laptop K9mail pickup up this email within few seconds despite that it should sync data every 3 hours.

Calendar, gmail and contacts settings are off.

Is there any way to limit or at least check the data sync amount?

Thanx

Hi there,

I recommend trying 3g watchdog (available on the market).. It's free and it does everything you could ever want relating to measuring data usage :D

I'm also on Orange and have the 500MB data package. I use my phone EXTENSIVELY and have only ever come close to my limit once. (That was just after I had got the phone). I have all the Google stuff auto-syncing. I don't think you'll have a problem.

There is an app that I've tried called NetCounter. This seems OK, although it doesn't let you set your billing date. I think I'll give that 3G Watchdog a go :(

You can also visit the following site in your browser on the phone:

http://orangeworld.co.uk/y/embedyouraccount/

This will tell you how many minutes and how much data you've used and have remaining. Bear in mind this doesn't work if you're on a WiFi connection - you need to be using the mobile network.

Cheers,

Dan

Actually, I've just realised that you can set the start date in NetCounter... you hold down the "Monthly" amount and you get a pop up menu. My bad :(

Now that I can set the billing date this app seems great! You can also set an alert when you get near your allowance.
