I was going to install the new MoNaCo Rom but I did the radio update first after I install the update my phone looked like it was going to reset, it turned off and never came back on. My battery was fully charged and I just can't seem to get it back on. I pressed the power/home buttons and that doesn't turn it on either HELP!!!

you must have turned it off/pulled out the battery during flash. when you flash a radio, you go back to the home and click on "reboot" and a screen is booted up where the radio is installed. most people brick their phones by pulling out their battery here because they think its frozen. >_> apart from interupting the flash, i dunno how else you could have done that. i heard people have taken out the battery and left the phone for 24 hours and it turned on after, you might wanna try that.

Yeah, the arrow coming out of the box screen after a reboot is a bit concerning, but it's supposed to be there. It goes away after about half a minute and returns to the recovery screen, reboot again and it'll boot as normal. If you can't even boot to the recovery menu any more then try shen's suggestion, otherwise you might have to send it back to the shop for them to do a hardwired flash on it.

Yup thats exactly what happened but it took about 3-4 minutes before I took off the battery. It went from the folder with the arrow screen to shutting off and I didn't get any response for about 3 minutes before I started pressing the power button myself thinking maybe it needed for me to power it back on, then I finally took of the battery and still nothing. I'll do the 24 hour trick see if it works. I'll update you guys tomorrow. Thanks for the fast response.

For info, mine took around 10 minutes for the first boot :D The more apps you have installed, the longer the first boot will take. Good luck!

this applies to a rom update. we're talking about radio here. but still it takes a while to flash the radio, and this process is critical. it can't be stressed enough: never pull the bat when flashing anything. not before waiting 8 hours (go to sleep).

Of course - what was I thinking? That's what happens when I post after midnight and after drinking gin and tonic ;)

So I have seemed to make the same mistake as the person starting this thread. I tried updating my radio and i got the box with arrow coming out then phone turned off. I left it for several minutes but wasn't sure how long it actually would take and i hadn't seen it explained to ever wait 8 hours hopefully slight exaggeration. So phone will not turn on and get no lights. "bricked??" Looking for any answers on if it is possible for me to fix. Has anyone else been successful with leaving the battery out for 24 hrs and then actually getting it to turn on??????? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

don`t say you have a cdma phone? Did you pull the battery off when it was the arrow and box? That is the flashing time...

i dunno how it works but it works, but most likely depends on how much of the radio was installed. basically you have 2 processors in your phone, one boots the radio first and then the other one boots up your phone, if you radio isnt there, it wont boot, and wont signal the second processor to boot up your phone.

Will fastboot still start with a dead radio (boot with back button instead of home)? Presumably recovery won't, but you can reflash the radio with fastboot afaik.

Before you start flashing you should always make sure you are fully aware of what happens if doing it for the first time they are many cases of this happening all over here and xda and I have never read any solutions to your problem. The only thing you can try is what stevenz said try boot your recovery in fastboot and go from there if not take it back to the shop. Good luck

Well I had done several hours of research online but seems that wasn't enough. The phone will not boot to any recovery mode with any button sequence. I wish it would because i did do a system back up prior to trying to upgrade my radio but it was that becomes useless when phone wont boot to recovery. I did wait for at least five minutes after the arrow coming out of the box was gone before even touching the phone. I did see mentioned above that it took 10 minutes for one user and they stated it can depend on how may applications you have installed well I took my phone back to stock before doing this. I guess I must have missed the research part where an approximate time table was given for how long this could take while phone was actually black "off". Many of the walk throughs that I read, and I read several seem to fail to mention that the phone is actually still updating several minutes after it seems off. This is kinda crappy on the part of the creators to show a package "box with arrow to phone" being installed then no indication that anything is happening afterward with phone acting as if it was completely off. After problem occurred I was able to find out more information about what happened but mostly because I knew what I was looking for then. I guess I should have done a search about problems installing new radios. Also no my phone does have a micro sd so i wasn't completely off base. The information about which boots first radio then OS is good information. It also seems that this is kinda backwards. Maybe it has to be this way but if OS was first to boot seems I would at least be able to recover my phone, you have to wait anyways for phone to boot up before a signal is even established. After all that said I realize that I most likely made this error occur myself.

Does anyone know what the manufacture actually does to fixed this issue? I saw a post that they actually have to replace the whole board. It seems that this would be costly to the company at least with the amount of phones that this sort of thing is happening to but maybe the board is cheap enough.

Also has anyone actually had the nerve, gull, experience to opened this phone up to the board? If they aren't replacing the board there must be some other method that can be used maybe still unknown to get these phones to boot again.

I work at Best Buy where I bought the phone and have their insurance so hopefully sending this thing in wont be to bad.

Thanks for everyone's responses and input.
