Help a noob with Hero 2.73.495

Greetings all,

I had enough using all the sh!t Lo@d fron Nokia and the iphone and decided to get an android based system.

I picked an HTC Hero which seems to be for the Russian market though I live in the Middle east.

Any way the phone has Build number 2.73.495.24 and it doesn’t have the android market application so it seems I need to use a cooked ROM.

Now I’m really noob to the android world but I’ve been reading and things are a little confused.

Could someone please guide me where to begin?

I tried the recovery flash with the image file from modaco ROM but not luck.

Please I need your help in flashing my Hero with this cooked ROM.

If the flashrecc didn't work, you probably need to downgrade following the steps at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572683

I used this procedure to downgrade on Sunday and can confirm that it works, however bizarre it seems (hacking an SD card!) In my case I used the 2.73.405.5 RUU as the new rom and then the recovery flash as suggested here.

I would then recommend installing MoDaCo, though the 2.73.405.5 RUU should contain the market if that is your goal.

My Hero comes with a russian firmware, is it OK if I flashed it with WWE firmware ?

OK, Done, I useed the goldcard tech. to do it and used an official HTC ROM for western europe.
