Using PC Suite after flashing with MoDaCo Rom

Hi, Im running Windows 7 x64. Ive managed to install the Pulse drivers using the advice given in an earlier post and all of the "TMobile" hardware devices are now showing as installed correctly in Device Manager.

I have then gone ahead and flashed the phone with the MoDaCo ROM but when I connect the phone and run PC suite I get a message saying "PC Suite is not applicable to the mobile phone you have connected". Does PC Suite not work with the phone after flashing ? If so is there any simple way of getting music / video files onto the phone or will I have to enable mass storage each time I want to copy something onto the SD card ?

lso, on the original T Mobile ROM my favourite contacts were displayed in a "CoverFlow" kind of fashion - is it possible to enable this on the MoDaCo ROM or download an app from the Market to provide this kind of interface ?

Lastly,I find the QWERTY pad buttons on both android and touchpal rather small to type with. Is it possible to switch the key layout to a 0 - 9 text pad type ?

Thanks.

Use MoDaCo ROM 1.4 not the U8230 ROM!

P

I had no trouble importing contacts (from an .mbk file) with pcsuite and the u8230 rom...even though it gave the 'phone not supported' message in the beginning, same as with the 1.3 rom...

Does the MoDaCo 1.4 ROM remove all of the T Mobile branding etc ?

Will I have to do a wipe first or can I just run the 1.4 update.zip and leave my apps settings etc all in place ?

Also - with the U8230 I just stuck my o2 SIM in and the o2 APN was picked up and the internet worked straight away - will work the same under the 1.4 ROM or will I have to manually configure the settings ?

Thanks.

The 1.4 ROM does not really remove branding, just the wnw and jukebox links. It's the stock rom with added functionality like a2sd. Read the first post of the rom topic.

I think you'll need to wipe only between the different type roms, like from stock to 8230 or vica versa. But anyways you can always do a nandroid restore if aything fails.

Thanks Bounty.

Ive had a play with the TouchPal settings and configured it the way I like it now. The only thing I really "miss" from the TMobile ROM is the kind of cover-flow view for Favourite Contacts - is there any way to get the contacts view installed on the 8230 ROM ?

Also have other people managed to get the 8230 ROM to work OK with PC Suite ? Mine still isnt accepting the phone connection and wont allow me to sync data / music / playlists etc ?

If all else fails I can reflash to 1.4 - is this still pink and black by the way ?!

Thanks.
