Phone stays in Android-boot screen

Hi

I had the custom U8230 rom (1.0) installed, and it was working perfect. Then the 3G stopped working, and I decided to upgrade to the 1.1 ROM, but after doing a nandroid-backup. The 3G was still not working after the upgrade, so I decided to roll-back to the original Pulse-rom (before installing the 1.0 ROM I also did a backup) and everything was fine. But I was used to the speed of the ROM and decided to do a rollback using the backup of the 1.0 ROM.

But when I rebooted the phone, it doesn't go past the Android-boot screen??

How can I rollback to my first, original ROM, Nandroid backup when I cannot run the Quick Boot?

I also tried to restore the ROM using this page (Link, the november one). But that doesn't work...

Help?!?

Put it in fastboot mode, then run:

[sudo] fastboot boot ramon-recovery-whatever-it-is.img

Thanks Timmmm

That got me in the recovery-mode, and I tried to rollback my first update. Everything went perfect, but then it stayed in the boot-screen again... Left it there for more then 30 minutes...

Then I tried to install the stock Tmobile ROM. The installation went without errors, but again it isn't going past the boot-screen.

What could be the problem? Is there a way to restore back to factory-settings so I can return it to the store?

Finally ;) ;)

My phone is working again!!

Steps I took

- Connect to the phone using fastboot (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459830)

- Download the stock Tmobile ROM (Stock rom)

- Download the Ramon-recovery tool and put in C:\android

- Boot the Ramon-recovery tool (see Timmmms-post in this topic)

- Do a wipe (erase data/factory settings)

- Install the stock ROM

Finish!!

Luckily! I was scared I bricked my phone...

Thanks Timmm for your reply, that was the step I was missing ;)

You don't need a nandroid backup. Just follow the steps in the first link, but don't do the Nandroid steps. Do what Timmmm tells in his post in this topic ;) After this you can install the stock rom using the recovery-tool

Oddly enough mine just did this, I've been using it happily, the last thing I did was flash Amon Ra 1.5.2, but that was on Monday, and since then I've just been using it ;)

Lesson of the day, make regular Nandroid backups everyone!

Sure, but I found this out by Trial&Error, so maybe there is an easier way ;)

What you need:

The Android SDK:

Fastboot Windows Binary (download Zip-file here, use fastboot-windows.exe )

Steps to restore your phone

1) Put the files Adb and AdbWinApi.dll from the tools folder in the Android SDK into C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder on your PC. Substitute the correct drive letter if windows is not installed on you C: drive

2) Put the Windows Fastboot.exe into the C:\WINDOWS\System32 folder on your PC

3) Create a folder on the C: drive of your PC called android. The path should be C:\Android.

4) Copy the recovery-RA-pulse-v1.5.2.img file to C:\Android (file to be found in the Zip-file)

5) Unplug the USB cord and power off your phone

6) Power up your phone by holding volume-minus,red button and power

7) Plug the USB cord back into your phone. The screen on your phone should say fastboot.

8) Make sure your pc is using the correct driver.

9) Press start, go to run and type cmd (If you are on Vista just type cmd in the search box and hit enter). The command prompt will pop up.

10) Type cd C:\android

11) Type fastboot boot recovery-RA-pulse-v1.5.2.img

12) Now the recovery tool should boot on your phone. From here you can wipe your phone and then install the stock ROM, or one of the custom ROMS ;)

Well Ive got all the way up to no.6 but my phone says "update failed" with that i cant do anything. As with step 7 my Android SDK does not have any drivers? Ive got the newest one but maybe it will work with older versions? Im seriously stumped. Maybe its not such a good idea trying this on windows7.

ow my bad, should be volume-minus, red and power. This gets you a blue-screen, with fastboot

I used this in WinXP, don't know if it will work in Win 7

I see now that step 8 is for the HTC Dream. If you just use the CD that came with the phone, the drivers should be automatically installed (at least with XP). This way you can skip step 8

I tried what you explain. I get stuck at 11

It says it cant find abdwinapi.dll (as an error of fastboot.exe)

It is in system32 though

what can the problem be?

This seems to be happening much more frequently now ;)

I had been using the 8230 1.1 ROM, so switched to the 1.5 MCR ROM to get a little more "Stock" and see if that would help.

but that only lasted about a day and a half before not booting any more.

I've just now flashed to the November stock rom, and I'll see if I can manage to use that, and not have it dying. If that doesn't fix it I think I'll have to wipe all trace of fiddling on my part and return it :S

Right so I get the phone on a Xp system and did all the steps. And it has come back to life. I did a full system wipe/recovery but it just loads past the Android screen and stops at the T-Mobile spinning logo for a good set of time.

What steps would i need to install a stock/custom Rom? can i install a rom from the nandroid recovery page?
