Own photos not showing

This must be easy....

I wanted to put some of my own pics on my Hero, initially I had some png and jpegs in a folder called 'photos' on the root of my SD card, but the HTC Albums app didn't show any reference to these.

A bit of searching and I found out you need to make a folder /media/images/album name directory, so I did, making numerous album names and organising my existing Hero camera pics (from DCIM) into these as well as my own jpgs and pngs.

However only albums with the moved camera pics show up, and only the camera pics, all my own just aren't showing in HTC Albums.

So what am I doing wrong?
