Me and my GF have HTC Hero's both unlocked.

Mines on Orange and Hers on Three, Mines fine, but hers allways wants to be 'Roaming'.

I've tryed playing with the settings, clean install. And nothing... It will stay on three then when it reconnects it goes to 'Roaming' again.

This would be fine.. but were not sure if it would charge us for using data whilst in roaming mode, of if it is even in roaming mode? Seen as the places we're in have full Three 3G signal so there no need to roam.

Has anyone had anything else similar? And does it cost to roam in the same country as your provider?

Thanks

Chris

I'm also on 3 on my HTC Hero. I do get the roaming indicator sometimes though not as often recently since i upgraded the radio on my handset (63.18.55.07IU_6.35.08.22). That could also be down to 3's new UK roaming agreement. 3 have traditionally had a roaming agreement with another network in the UK to be able to provide more widespread coverage. It used to be O2 then i think they switched to Orange. I read somewhere recently that since September they have had a different kind of agreement where they had a kind of merger with T-Mobile, setting up another company that would own and operate the transmitters for use by both networks thus providing a larger network.

On other handsets i've had, it did not indicate that i was roaming and thus it was transparent to the user. I can confirm though that i have not incurred any roaming charges whilst the handset has indicated roaming within the UK - even with mobile data roaming enabled - and you shouldn't expect to either.
