i made a little bootanimation from the dumped files of the nexus rom. you can see the animation in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUjIrHD8mL0, i rotated it and made it fit the hero's screen. if you want to go back to stock or mcr you need this.

pardon me? all i did was modifying the animation from the dumped nexus rom, i didn't create any images myself. i wish i could do something like that ;) just converted some png files to a gif...

Figured it would've been higher resolution than the Hero's screen and would've needed to be rescaled or something.

This may be a dumb question, but how do I install this new bootscreen? I'm very new to this all and I'm running on Modaco 3.0...

The same way you flash for any ROM or Radio update, my friend.

Download the zip file to the root of your SD Card and flash the update in your recovery ROM.

If you're using Amon-Ra's latest version, you can download and flash the zip file without renaming it and right from within the recovery ROM.

well this is correct, i resized it with gimp. actually i do everything either with gimp or inkscape, great tools ;)

i thought with alterations you meant some formulas to create the "flowing" effect or something ;)

does not work as a bootscreen. afaik the bootscreen needs to have a 255 color palette, this gif has 158 colors. if someone can change it to a 255 color palette i will try it again, as soon as it works i can make an update.zip... don't bother trying this one, results in bootloop...

no sound in here. there is an mp3 file in there, but it is not played during boot. afaik there needs to be some mp3 in the folder for the phone to boot, but playing it is optional.

nice find! there is one version with 255 colors in 320x480, still won't show up correctly and gives bootloops. maybe i can try something on the weekend, but tbh this pic does not have priority for me, as personally i find it butt-ugly ;)

got a question though seeing that the boot screen got extracted aswell, would it be possibel to get the lock screen from the nexus onto the hero?

Im kinda getting bored with the HTC lock screen, had a look at the default 1.5 lock screen but thats even worse!
