Guest TonyL Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Hi, I bought the Invisishield skin for the Hero and the back section just doesn't fit properly... Its not my application of the skin, I've done lots of these on the iPhone, so well practised in getting them on.. Wrote to Invishield and very nice that they offered a replacement, not much use though till they re design it.. Essentially the back skin needs to be cut in a much better way so that when its bent around the four corners of the phone, the corners/cut outs that are made to go through 90' end up sticking up and wont for love nor money stay down. I've tried everything. I even had to cut the area short where the skin wraps around the bottom - see the pic for an example Anyhow, the best skins (and cheapest!) are from www.BestSkinsEver.com but they haven't been able to get a European handset to cut one for.. They have the Sprint version of the Hero - not much use for us. Does anyone have one of those cheap Hero shell/handsets that you see in shops or know where I can get one from? I can sort out shipping to them in the US so they can cut the template, just need a shell or broken unit.. Any ideas?

I have an invisible shield, and those corners are the ones I also have minor lift on, but if you persist with the "palming" technique, and *minor* stretching when you apply, they go away. My problem was I lifted one bit off (I'm a symmetry freak) and that stuffed it. I also botched the screen install and had to buy a second screen kit, but it's all good now!
Guest CitizenLee Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Looks like some careful craft-knife skills would sort out the bubbles in that pic ;)
Guest volatile_ink Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 (edited) Have you thought of getting a shield fromĀ Zagg? I have one on the screen only (I use a book case). Best screen protector I've ever used. No bubbles and lifetime guarantee. As for 'dummy' phones just look on eBay. Search for 'DUMMY HERO' and you'll get more than a few.. Guest ZiCoN Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I actually don't get why so many people buy these things for the Hero... I'm a truckdriver and have my phone with me everywhere... also have a 2-yearold daughter who loves toddlerlock... No scratches what so ever... Are they really necassery?
Guest pillock Posted December 19, 2009 Report Posted December 19, 2009 I agree.... previously I've always bought screen protectors, usually as I'm buying the phone, so as soon as it comes out of the box I can put the protector on. Where possibly I've also had full skins too, although my last Nokia was a slider and all the skins were ugly-looking to cope with the slide. However, with the Hero you've got a proper glass screen, and then 90% of the rest of the phone is rubber-coated which is amazingly resistant. I've had mine for 3 months now and there's not a mark on it which is more than can be said for my previous HTC models. My Trinity was chipped on each corner and the back was scuffed, and my old Canary (first HTC Win phone ever?) looked like it had been used for digging tunnels. There was no silver left on it. But the Hero? Looks like new.
