Contacts memory full on Pulse

I synced my pulse with Google Contacts and when I tried to add another one it said memory full. Checked to see that phone still had 16MB available onboard so can't understand why I can't add any more contacts. Anyone else had this problem or are you just limited to a certain number of contacts?
