Hi folks. I'm hoping you can help me. I've followed the steps in the stickied thread and I'm trying to install the Kuanchi ROM but I've bricked my phone several times already. Luckily I've taken it back to the shop and they've reset it back to factory (and also miraculously replaced the screen and bezel on two separate occasions, gradually making my phone much newer in appearance). There's only so many times I can do this before they'll get shirty with me so can anyone think why my phone is bricking each time despite following the instructions to the letter? Is there something vital that I'm missing here? Would someone mind giving me instructions that would otherwise be considered patronising if not requested like that? Small words and patience very much appreciated here. Imagine I'm 12 years old and gear it that way since I'm following what I think are the instructions.

I'm no techn00b in other fields but this one has me really stumped.

I made a video walkthrough on how to flash ROMs for the Omnia:

Part 1:

Part 2:

The audio is a bit crappy, but you will be able to see if anything your doing is different. You must be using XP and have the samsung drivers installed.

Sorry about the late reply here. That's amazing! Thanks! Now about to go through this to see if there's anything I've missed.

Sorry about the dreadfully late reply. Christmas was very stupidly busy for me.

Tbh I'm going through the tutorial exactly as it says. On the ROM front I'm after something which is responsive and light which is why the Khuanchia ones tickle my fancy. If you have a better recommendation then that would be fantastic. B)

Oh btw, over Christmas my XP laptop died so I ended up getting another with Windows 7. Will the above tutorial be massively different in terms of actions? I take it as red that Win7 drivers for everything will be required instead. Can I try this or should I keep it to the letter completely sand see if I can borrow an XP laptop from someone?

Actually, I don't suppose anyone has a copy of ROM 41 from the Khuanchai lists not on TepidRapidShare? Or perhaps a recommended rom that's quick and light to use please, again without Rapidshare. Any other mirrors, torrents... just not that site. I've spent 90 minutes going through every two minutes trying to download it unsuccessfully. ;)

Just grab the Skipscreen extension for Firefox and let it work its magic - fire and forget ;-).

BTW, I can thoroughly recommend the Khuanchai builds - I stuck on 23504, which is great. Combined with SPB mobile shell, it's a very, very useable phone.

Skipscreen you say? Mmmmm, sounds good! THanks!

@Cruddasj: Your tutorial worked!! I managed to blag doing this on a work laptop and it went through lovely! I now have the Khuanchia rom and I'm in love with my phone again!

@Mikevhl: Your method was easier but I just couldn't get it working. Top marks for a nice simple process though. ;)

@Loudcox: Your skipscreen hint saved the day! Top marks!

Just goes to show this forum has an awesome community! Thanks again!! :D
