[FAQ?] Rotatin clockwise?

Is there as reason why you can only rotate the screen clockwise (with the buttons on the right)?

I'm lefthand and it would make a lot of sense if my Hero could rotate on both directions!

And in any orientation as well!

Or maybe is it my Hero to have a problem?

the rotation works as designed, it is meant to rotate only counterclockwise. idk exactly why, but obviously they didn't make this phone for lefties... AFAIK there is no solution for this. too bad for you ;)

Considering that 3 persons out of 10 are left-hand, they have taken a very bad decision!

In my opinion, finally, there's no hardware constraint on this to be implemented.

Well, there may be some serious coding differences - as whilst the UI would still be "landscape", it's "the other way around", meaning all the coordinates & layout code would have to operate the other way. Without looking at source to see how clever it is (i.e. can it define where 0x0 is in terms of top left/bottom right and work out where to go, or is it hard coded?)

If it's fully relational, then no, in theory it shouldn't be "too hard"....

I'm not an Android guru, but I would say that there's something like a framebuffer on top of which all the graphics is done.

In that case you "rotate" the frame buffer by 180* and you'll get the clockwise rotation for left-hands.

The actual use ofr a portait-upside-down is indeed disputable, though.

And, in the end, it's really strange (to me at least) that Android supports rotation, but only by 90* counterclockwise.

It would be nice, if all of you could follow that link and click on the star after signing in!

Spread the word!

I am right-handed but I could type faster by holding the Hero in the left hand in landscape mode.
