Guest shenshang Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Hey, I'm trying to make some bootscreens but I dunno which gif editor to use, both Ulead and Animation Shop Pro give me gif files that dont play properly, they come up as static :S Anyone gimme any pointers? [i'm trying to make a bootscreen where it shows the HERO with the android boot.gif (and removing the "HTC" animation frames), then the nexus boot1.gif then looping nexus boot2.gif, if anyone can make a boot_animation.xml file, I'd greatly appreciate it] Regards, Shen
Guest kendon Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 (edited) i use gimp for that purpose. you need to create one layer per frame (use menu -> open as layers if you have multiple files), then save as gif and select to export as animation. then use 60ms as default delay. if you open the .gif you will see that the layers have (60ms) as suffix for the name, if you alter these you can override the default settings. only problem is: there is no way (that i know of) to select and edit multiple layers, so it is a PITA to edit several hundred frames... make sure you use indexed mode with 255 colors, others didn't work for me. you can make several gif files and then play them in order with the boot_animation.xml, note that AFAIK you can set only a global margin, so your pictures need to have the same size. i can help you with the syntax if you give me filenames and what exactly should happen. edit: lol and then i read your post again, actually you are trying exactly what i wanted to do already. basically all you need to is make the images the same size: the hero logo must be 300x480, the nexus animation 300x480. make sure to center the images, add black bars on top/bottom resp. left/right. if you do that gimme the pics and you'll have your update.zip in no time ;) Edited December 20, 2009 by kendon

Guest shenshang Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 OK, ive made the gif files with the same size, but they still dont play correctly ;) If you have time, could you help? basically boot1.gif runs first and then boot2.gif loops. I've rar-ed them and attached it to this post, TIAbootscreen.rar
