Guest byakkotai Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Hi, I am new to rooting, ROM upgrades and pretty much everything that I am asking questions about at the moment. Basically I am in the process of getting ready to install MoDaCo 3.0 on my brand new, never even been started up Hero. I am referring to the How-To's at the moment but I can't find a mention of whether the Radio needs upgrading as well. Can anyone assist? Also as someone whos never done this before, is going from a fresh Hero all the way to rooting/custom ROMing very difficult? Thanks for any assistance.

IMHO it's always worth putting the latest radio on your device.

But the link that says download, only downloads a HTML file. Do I need some kind of download manger? Or do I put that HTML file on the hero SD card, and change name to UPDATE..and boot rom that??

No, definitely don't do that :) Quite a few people have reported similar problems, although I've never had an issue downloading from here. Turns out I was trying to download the radio link from my MAC. When I switched over to a windows pc. It worked and downloaded fine. But when I tried putting it on the SD card, and opening a file manager, to try to run the Radio file,It doesnt work,I searched everywhere on instructions, on how to install and update the radio, on my HTC HERO. But cant find any instructions, on how to to so.

The radio zip you've put on your SD card should show up. Select this and follow the instructions on screen.

I was tryinh to do all of this on a MAC,and the radio was'nt downloading correctly. So I tried it again on Windows 7 and I put the radio about 8MB of info,But when I put the HTC in recovery mode, instead of going to "Apply sdcard:update.zip" I went to " Apply sdcard:choose zip",and the radio download was in there. So I proceeded . The installation went very well, I am now on the latest radio baseband 63.18.55.06U_6.35.04.25. Thanks
