Restoring everything after a wipe

I was just thinking... if I ever have to wipe my phone, I have both a BART and a nandroid+ext backup - just to be on the safe side :) However, although my apps will be backed up, all of my data will be gone (/data). I have a few questions on this:

1. If all of my apps were restored from a backup, would they appear in the Market as being installed?

2. Does /data contain essential files required for apps to run, or just personal data, e.g. high score tables, saved preferences, etc.?

3. Presumably if I want to restore all this type of data after a wipe, I need to backup the /data directory - or at least /data/data. Is this correct or would I be missing other important files located elsewhere?

4. What happens to other data such as SMS messages, call history, etc.? Is this stored in /data or somewhere else?

Sorry, just realised I've been an idiot - of course /data is backed up by nandroid! Therefore, I'm only looking for answers to questions 1 and 4 ;)

if you did a nandroid+ext or bart backup, your phone will restore to exactly the same at the point you did the backup. nothing will change, except the sms/calls/etc you made AFTER the backup.
