HTC HERO APP STORE -> SAM??

Hey guys, just got ma HTC Hero today ;)!

So far its amazing, no dead pixels, its fast, gps is spot on, its a real pleasure to use.... however

i decided to get some apps, so i went looking for the app store.. only problem is all i found is an application called SAM on the device, which is ment to be the app store or some bs. so i went to install it (cus u have to acces the website via the icon that is ther when u first turn it on) and it comes up with somethign saying its been blocked cus its not the real android store.... what do i do to get the legit store?

I had the same problem you did, so here's the solution.

You're gonna have to root your phone and get a new rom, preferably MCR. Why you don't have the normal app store (marketplace) is probably because your phone is from a region of the globe that is restricted by google or something like that. What I'm trying to say is the app store is only available for certain regions. There are tutorials all over the forum you can use to root. Or check out the unlockr's website.
