Guest Pug77 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Currently using T-mobile Pulse, unlocked, rooted, original stock ROM, with Vodafone SIM. I had a HTC Magic, on which I purchased - Better Keyboard, TouchDown and Documents to go full version. Now have migrated everything across to the Pulse and have downloaded the full versions of Better Keyboard and TouchDown to the Pulse without bother. I am struggling to install the full version of Documents To Go (D2G) Using the stock install of D2G, I can register the Huawei Bundle and have confirmation email. Then try Menu > About Documents To Go > Menu > Activate, this takes the me to the Market place where I can only see the D2G Main App, there no option to enter the Reg Key that was previously emailed. If I download the main version from the apps store, when I try to activate I get diverted to the market place to download the main version again. Do I need to uninstall the Huawei version completely first? TIA Pug

TIA Pug Change your ROM to the U8230 custom ROM and the full version should appear in the marketplace, don't know why it doesn't appear for the stock T-Mobile ROM. The Pulse is my first Android phone and I wanted to buy documents to go for it but couldn't until I'd upgraded the ROM. Not so sure about the reg key and activation key, all just seems to happen automatically for me, you may have to contact Dataviz to transfer the full version license to your Huawei bundle account.

Thank for the quick response. A change in ROM isnt the ideal solution for me but I do depend on D2G. What worries me are many of the ROM mention that x, y or z features do not function. Is this the ROM to go for: MoDaCo Custom ROM - U8230 Vanilla Cupcake Style? Do you know where I could find screen shots or video of the interface? Cheers

Cheers it's the standard android 1.5 interface with 3 pages on the home screen, that's what vanilla cupcake style means (vanilla is the codename for android version 1.5, like donut for 1.6 and eclair for 2.0). you can find videos of it all around the internet, but if you had an htc magic before you should be familiar with it.

Isn't cupcake the codename for 1.5? I always thought 'vanilla' referred to the fact that it's the plain user interface

Personally I can't get mms messaging to work yet on the U8230 custom ROM on O2, but I haven't seen similar posts about Vodaphone. I didn't try setting it up on the standard ROM so I don't know if would ever have worked for me personally, but I have seen reports from on O2 user who claims to have mms messages working on the standard ROM by using t tombile APN names with everything else set to O2 normal settings.
Guest screwface Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 If you have root then do what i did, simply remove the preinstalled d2g apk using root explorer and then install the full version from the market place.

MMS just doesn't work at all on Vodafone with most Android phones :) Apparently there was an update to the Hero that made it work, hopefully that wasn't a HTC specific fix and it's been rolled in so that everyone can use it. Well, it'll be too late for me, I'm getting my MMS unprovisioned so I can at least get SMS with a link and hence read them, and cancelling my Voda contract to go to a network does do MMS.

I've had a search for an apk that may relate to d2g without luck. What is the full name of the apk file? Cheers
