Pulse not updating in background

Has anyone had any issues were nothing seems to get updated in the background?

I have my emails set to check every hour, and the notifications are on. At one point these seemed to work, but now I have to go into the emails to update them.

This also seems to be happening with AndRead (RSS feeds), which I've tried setting to update every morning, but have to manually update each time.

Any ideas what might cause these sorts of issues?

Also on the email front, after each udpate all the messages get marked as new again. Is there any fix for this?

I had this issue, but I reflashed using the december update and now it seems to work properly.
