Guest bedevil99 Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Hi, I wanted to ask if someone knows what the best tool (possibly free) is for converting avi files so I can watch them on the Pulse? Does the conversion depend on the original resolution of the avi file? Thanks
Guest kingkeld Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Hi, I wanted to ask if someone knows what the best tool (possibly free) is for converting avi files so I can watch them on the Pulse? Does the conversion depend on the original resolution of the avi file? Thanks I use the FREE video converter suite. Here is the program that I use within the suite: http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/guides/dvd/mak...-for-iPhone.htm I go with the "Economy" setting, it lowers the quality insignificantly, but saves you a lot of space. There is also a whole suite of other tools, all pretty good.
Guest JimNu Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Not converted for the Pulse yet but I use Handbrake for other converting needs.

Guest Kandesys Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I also use Handbrake, excellent (and free). I use the device native resolution (480x320), it messes up the aspect ratio, but i'd rather the movies fill the screen. For this reason, I use 0.9.3 as 0.9.4 doesn't seem to let me force 480x320 (it wants to keep the aspect ratio - even though i tell it not to). Video: FFMPEG @ 384kbps (can go a lot higher, but this usually creates small files of good enough quality for the resolution) Audio: stereo AAC @ 80kbps Hope this helps &i
Guest Evil Kaz Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Not converted for the Pulse yet but I use Handbrake for other converting needs. Another vote for Handbrake, neat little tool thats not stuffed with ads or bloated with usless crap.
Guest kristijan_mk Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 I use it Format Factory and I'm quite satisfied (you can also add subtitles to the files, including central european). Also there are many languages for the interface http://format-factory.en.softonic.com/ Use native resolution always, but for simplicity use iPhone settings they work perfectlly on the Pulse. As I noticed, about 40 min of video takes around 10% of the battery. Does anyone else have similar experience?
