In recovery mode there should be a "wipe data / factory reset" option.

It will erase your data but perhaps it might restore the touchscreen?

Hi nicox45,

could you provide some more details what you did so far?

As i can read out of the lines you installed superboot and the recovery image, right?

Did you encountered any problems while installing? What do you mean with "my phone think it is a tmobile device, but it is not" which Brand/Carrier is it?

I first installed the recovery image, then I installed the superboot thing, the problem is (i think) it overwrites a file that only works with tmobile network, my network is Claro in my country ( Chile ) that is why the computer thinks it is a "tmobile 3g" device... doing those things I lost touchscreen and the usb port is failing (does not connect to the computer), also lost calling support, I dont know if those things are related to the superboot but everything started when I installed it, as a recommendation if you are not a user from the tmobile network dont install anything of those things... thank you!

maybe the best way to solve is Installing the December Update agagin..

1.Copy the “dload” folder and all its contents to the root directory of your microSD card

2.hold "red bottom" + "voice decrease",and then hold "power bottom" until you see the several screens along with a progress bar.

3.Once complete you will see a confirmation screen, and it won't be restart automatically.so you need to take your battery off.

I thought it would be work as i used to do.

Last time I install the u8230 custom rom,it warned me the words just like "com.android.acore is stop" agagin and again , So I cannot touch any thing. I got no choice except installing the December Update....Maybe It's the final solution.

Loosing USB will reduce the possibilities :) . Sounds like you already have an expensive paper weight.

Taking a quick look in U8230 apn-conf.xml shows that Claro is in it, so you had a vanilla android rom.

I would try the update from France BYTEL:

You can't damage much more .... But it's all your choice

Good Morning

if your usb Port is working in bootloader mode than i would say try to get your factory image and copy the bootloader.img manually back on our phone using adb shell. The same way you installed superboot and the recovery image.

Hi there,

I've got a t-mobile pulse unlocked and on three in the UK. whenever i bootup from cold/off i end up unable to install apps. So i reboot into recovery mode and repair the ext filesystem and then reboot it. At this point, once its booted back up nine times out of ten the touchscreen is not working and i'm unable to "login" to the handset. what i end up doing is pressing and holding the power button so the menu pops up, then i can use the trackball to select "power off" and reboot the phone. then it usually boots back up with a working touchpad but i'm still unable to install apps from the market place.

I then repeat the whole process, which is rather tedious, until the file system repair works *and* the touchpad is functional.

if its any help i'm running the 1.6 december update.

reflash whit official france update and will go again 100%

I had the same problem and now works perfectly!

open file whit 7zip and extract dload folder in your sdcard

put device in update mode ,

  1. Turn off the phone
  2. Turn on the phone while holding the End Call (Red) and Volume Up buttons down
if not restart by itself wait 10 minutes... Remove the battery and start it from the power button

If he has a U8220 then flashing the U8230 ROM really won't help any. If on the other hand he really has a U8230 then that might explain all the problems he's been having.
