Guest ptruman Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 I got this weird msg , this is the second tiem i got it ! any clues what is this all ? what is this all ? :S Could be wrong but looks like a WaveSecure control msg. Have you installed WS? You should fond those get auto deleted once received unless WS isn't running
Guest pulser Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 Could be wrong but looks like a WaveSecure control msg. Have you installed WS? You should fond those get auto deleted once received unless WS isn't running I would second that looking like a WS message. Normally these are removed from your inbox before you can see them (as ptruman said) . Have you removed/uninstalled WS by any chance? If so, you might want to either re-install it if you want the security it provides, or delete your account/number to prevent these. Just a guess though, as I can't be sure.

Guest pulser Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 it cant be WS, WS sms format is different, they look more like "iuiund&guygufyg*&gru&£f&£f^&£^fg&£^??/iuhidowdoi@;oiu"hdw=_+D" Fair point. I didn't look too hard at the nonsense, and it appears that there are far too many 'foreign' characters like Greek symbols. Not sure about that one. Maybe worth asking your network if it happens again (make sure it's not a reverse-billed premium rate one or something like that) and you are bothered about it. Other than that, no ideas I'm afraid. :)
Guest stevenz Posted January 1, 2010 Report Posted January 1, 2010 It could be an 8-bit "binary" SMS (usually automatic settings for APNs etc from the provider). Normal SMS's are only 7-bit, some providers don't deal with 8-bit SMS's properly (e.g. the one I use). Odd that there's no ASCII data in there anywhere though, as things like actual addresses are usually human-readable even in 8-bit SMS's, so it may be some sort of malformed MMS? It could also be some sort of hack attempt, no idea how you'd tell. Other than that, pass.
Guest Marcony0 Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Well i got this msg when i was entering another country , so i got it on Roaming and i just got it in one country ! was going from Jordan to Lebanon through Syria and i got that on the borders, never happened with other phones. for me it feels like its some kind of hack attempt or one of the Network providers is infected with something Or its a spy command :)

I would agree with Dan. I've even had this in Eastern Europe when on holiday. Seems that the welcome message gets corrupted by our phone, or that the message system is slightly different than ours. I don't think it's anything to worry about, though. :)
