Guest David Horvath Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Hey Guys, One question what bothers me. So if i want to root my phone, of do some fancy stuff with it it will lose warranty. Except if i can restore the original state of the phone before sending it for fixing. How can i backup the original rom in a way, that i can flash the phone with it, so it will remain the same, as when i took the snapshot?

The UK Tmobile December update does exactly what you want, that is if you have a UK spec Pulse. If not then look for the equivalent update from your local tmobile, I know that there was one in Germany as that is where the first "December update" appeared.

So the whole OS and default apps can fit into 70 megabytes? Okay. So if i screw it up really badly, in the worst case i can put back this december "update". If i think it right, this update wipes the phone. Thanks for your answer.

Correct - I have flashed from the U8230 Vanilla Cupcake ROM to the December update and the original recovery image is returned (rather than the Amon-Ra version) and the full TMob ROM is restored, i.e. it is identical to a phone that has never been fussed with.

So, to make things clear. If i install MoDaCo Mod and the patched recovery image, to revert back to the original (official) layout, i have to put back the December update (again), what will wipe the phone, and put back the original recovery image? How to do the last one? Or that is done by the December update? Any hints how to do a nandroid backup? Or will the MoDaCo mod wipe the phone? That is not stated anywhere.

You may have sorted this out by now but meh. Yes. Dec update will wipe and put the recovery.img back to normal. Nandroid backup ... install patched recovery image stickied at the top of the forum. Power on holding Power red and menu, select backup. MoDaCo mod will wipe the phone yes. only the boot.img and the system.img will be replaced.
