Guest xorti Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 If you are tired of the keyboard on the left and want something a little more useable like the keyboard on the right then keep reading. Note: If you have Astro installed you could do all this from your Android device without the need of a computer or AppInstaller. Search the Android Market for ‘app install’ and install AppInstaller.Download this file http://www.allshadow.com/files/htc_ime.zipExtract the .apk file from the .zip fileCopy the .apk file to your G1 or myTouch’s microSD cardGo to Settings > Applications and check the box for ‘Unknown Sources’
Guest Pug77 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Originally purchased 'Better Keyboard' for my Magic, then found the HTC keyboard, which is the most usable so far. When I got my Pulse, this was the first piece of software installed. A must for all Pulse users and for Android users without a hardware keyboard. I would pay for the HTC keyboard over 'Better Keyboard'.
Guest nicox45 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Works pretty well on my pulse! thanks!!
Guest Bigsy Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) Having tried them all now I actually think touchpal is best, its quicker than the HTC and also the swipe down functionality works much better than the press and hold function on the HTC. Swype looks very good but I don't believe there is a working pulse version yet. Edited December 30, 2009 by Bigsy
Guest flash2004 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 (edited) I tried this, but it is a very sluggish. So ultimately I had to switch back to touchpal again. When I installed the vanilla ROM the swipe down functionality is not available. Anybody knows how to get it back ? (like in the tmobile ROM version ?) Edited December 30, 2009 by flash2004
Guest gamer9 Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Whats so good about touchpal or this htc keyboard from the stock keyboard? Is it more responsive and faster to type with? Thx
Guest david_dawkins Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Whats so good about touchpal or this htc keyboard from the stock keyboard? Is it more responsive and faster to type with? Thx The HTC_IME TouchInput keyboard transformed my phone into something I can finally type with. TouchPal is just too laggy for me.
Guest Casper-vH Posted December 30, 2009 Report Posted December 30, 2009 Not too happy about the htc keyboard. Liked touchpal better. Swiping up for capital and down for symbol works way better than shift keys and holding. I still miss the ability to swipe left for backspace and right for space. Had that on my good old winmo phone, and liked it very much...
Guest topspinserve Posted December 31, 2009 Report Posted December 31, 2009 It is good to have one more option for a keyboard. After experimenting with the HTC and Touchpal, I don't find that either one is quicker than the other. I am sticking with Touchpal for the neat swiping facility.
