Guest simonastro Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 It's odd isn't it that I can download a good 400mb'swuth of developer software I haven't a clue how to use but can't find anywhere the audio hardware specs of the SPV. msdn tells me "The sound formats that are supported in Smartphone 2002 include: .wav-PCM, 8 or 16 bit, mono or stereo, sample rate from 8kHz-48kHz" which is relieving for playback software but information on the DACs or record/playback sample rates for the hardware is obviously not interesting enough. should I just not be interested? any one got any ideas? simonastro
Guest HelloDave Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Remember the recording capability is likely to be hardware dependent; the DACs, microphone etc used in the SPV will have been up to HTC, not M$, so MSDN will only tell you what the software can do. I don't think audio quality will have been top priority in the SPV though; it is a phone after all!
Guest simonastro Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 hellodave thanks for commenting although I think I covered the software/hardware issue in my deposition. I think maybe you're right - it is only a phone and as long as the gamers are happy why should anybody use this new tool for anything serious or useful eh?? does no one have a techy mate or a link to htc ? would still like to know although may be I'm banging my head against a disinterested wall ;)
Guest Lojt Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Maybe you should try the main forum, this is not exactly a beginners question ;)

Guest xanadu Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 If you want MP3 music... I have used 64 & 128kbps bit rates and sample rate 22khz. Just used standard MP3 ripping program. I have only been able to use multiples of 32 for bit rates. Tried 48 & 96 kbps and didn't work
