having problems

hi all just bought my htc hero yesterday i bought from CEX for £245 brand new, i put my t-mobile sim card in and it says no service then a little image of the sim card comes up and says no service to. does anyone know why this ios happing.

p.s this is the t-mobile g2 so its not the wrong sim card also it doesn't allow me to download any apps to my phone. please i need some help quick thanks.

£245 brand new? Sounds very cheap! If it's a new device and you have the correct SIM card, I'd phone T-Mobile customer services and give them the IMEI number to check everything's OK.
