Guest jms2367 Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 What custom ROM do you prefer? In terms of speed, responsiveness, stability, and battery life? Kindly indicate in your post the build also. Kindly click on the poll above.
Guest Sb. Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 (edited) Im running 6.5 rom build 28205.5.3.3 .Its fast, smooth, responsive and had no issues at the moment. I could never return to 6.1 and I dont understand how people prefer it to 6.5 with these new builds. 6.1 was slow, buggy and looked crap. The only reason I loved my Omnia was because I installed SPB and after that used some custom 6.1 rom's but later moved to 6.5 once it became stable and fast and never looked back. Guest Sb. Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Im using Dhees at the moment as its the latest release but Nicks and Cruddasj Roms seem to be the best for me.
Guest jms2367 Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) After trying out several 6.5 custom roms, i find nick' 28014 classic build the fastest and stablest. but i still encounter more lag with the 6.5 roms even with various registry tweaks. sometimes when i am typing out text messages, the touch response does not register the correct letter i am typing more often than not. with that i reverted back to the 6.1 DXIA5 original rom. found in this link: http://www.pspmyspace.com/omnia/2009/04/dx...-clean-rom.html i find now my omnia to be very fast and responsive. of course the compromise is that i have a very fat rom and have little phone storage memory left. (phone storage: about 28MB, program memory: 48MB). Edited January 9, 2010 by jms2367
Guest Sb. Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Good luck to you and your phone. I am positive that there is the exact same if not better response with 6.5 and texting depends on the keyboard you are using, as for touch there programs for that if you need but all the roms ive been using have had no issues.
Guest LuckyTan Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) I like KC's Omnia WM6.1 Rom DXIF1 build 2100 with BT-audio fix :) What custom ROM do you prefer? Guest Rafael Lopez Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 So far I haven't tried a single 6.1 ROM I think. Having a newer version was what I wanted in the first place when flashing to a custom ROM, only then I realized most cooked ROMs were much faster than the turtle-speed original Omnia system which left about 30MB of free space in the system storage. I feel like trying some custom 6.1 ROM someday, but I'm not sure... isn't it supposed to be worse in all aspects? Right now I'm using Ryrzy's 28205 M2D2, which entirely changed the way I see my phone (before I was using some of Sector's older 6.5 builds, better than the official Samsung ROM, but slightly lacking in some basics).
Guest jms2367 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 (edited) @Sb. Maybe I will try out again some other WM6.5 custom roms later. I always use the same keyboard, the phonepad of omnia lite. And i found it most responsive in build 20270 of WM6.1 roms (shokka used this it his last rom). So I just decided for the meantime to go back to Omnia's original ROM. After a couple of tweaks, the interface is very responsive. Of course the rest of the underlying WM menu is not thumb optimized so that I will be needing my stylus for that. I am closely watching Steff's and Nicklas' ROMS since I am finding that their roms has the least issues so far. This is based on the roms I have tried out so far and from the user feedback in the forum. However, with the very fat original rom, I might be sticking to this for sometime until an very good alternative comes. Besides, the start menu and OK button being in the bottom, renders some apps difficult to use like MS Reader in which I have to always end or close the app using a task manager since the "OK" button is hidden. I am also using Olivetree's bible reader and the toolbars currently are not optimized for the "ok" button being at the bottom. Edit: btw, I voted for WM6.5 since when I started this thread, I was still using a WM6.5 custom rom. Edited January 12, 2010 by jms2367

Same start button as 6.1 (top left) and very stable builds. There should be no issues with 3rd party apps either. You can find my 21888 HERE or there are others available from P_Dhee, Ryrzy , steff195 or Mr.Hammer. :) Good luck!!

I was using your 28014 norma;l rom and am happy with it but I have issues with apps compatibility. I will give your 21888 ROM a try when I find the time (taking me almst 2hours to customize after each reflash because of the number of apps i am installing, might be less w/ XDA_UC) since I find the stuff you cooked into your rom much to my liking. Regards.
