Hi to everyone ,

first i want to thank you guys for making such a nice "comunnity" for omnia and all the other phones... without you i would have used only the 80 % of the phone features and been stuck with the standard room. heh thanks for to all the good chefs :)

right .. now the good part gomes in ...YES I bought me an IPHONE and i must say that i love it...

I guess there is no need to start saying why i love it sooo much ...prob. all you guys know already what features the iphone can offer you compared to all other mobile devices...

anyway .. now that i own one .. i moved over to iphone forums and start everything all over again in a new world.

peace ...and a Happy new year to you all

I was thinking that. I had a look at the "new" iPhone 3G a few weeks ago and really couldn't see the apeal. There's nothing on there that I don't have on the Omnia. And the price is just insane, like everything from Apple. And I quite like to have a device where I can change the battery myself, without having to send it back to the manufacturer.

I thought the recent ad campaign here in the UK was classic! "The new iPhone 3G captures video!" What? It didn't before? So, despite the fact that my Omnia i900 is now quite old, it's been better than the new iPhone for over a year? Yay!

But that's just my opinion. I'm sure all the Apple advocates have their opinions on everything that isn't Apple branded. B) I just don't see the point in paying twice, or three times the price for something that, essentially, does the same job. I think in the case of all Apple products you're just paying for the brand and not the functionality.

Still, hope you enjoy your new iPhone! :)

OK...I don't want to be rude here...but...why did we need to know about that? I really hope you enjoy your new little toy but I fail to see the reason for opening a new topic announcing your new acquisition. Ah well...Good luck with your new iPhone.

i was thinking exactly the same 2 years ago when i renew my contract and instead of getting the iphone i choose omnia .. i was very very happy with the device ..all the tricks and stuff learned from this forum .. i enjoyed installing roms and test all the features of it.. but trust me ... soon i touched an iphone .. i was like dammmm no need for the stylus ? ( and come on lets face it the touch sensitive on omnia sucks) very hard to rich the corner to close a application ...

this is not a way to show off or something ...but really compering the two devices ...the iphone is well above the omnia

ahh and btw ...who said something about paying for all this apple apps ? (there are forums for iphone same like there are for omnia) :))

i dod agree with you that everything branded apple is very expensive ... i didnt want to pay the 185 £ for the 3gs 16 gb but i just couldnt wait any longer ;))

peace

i guess u never had a Omnia2 or htc hd2 in your hand... ;)

well, jocking aside, it's not much the phone itself as the OS... i couldn't stand using an iphone even if it was free. WM or Android are far superior (at least for my usage)

my signature explain it all anyway B)

The iPhone looks and feels great, it has a great touch response. But I think that's about it. I may buy it in the future, if it does everything WM phones do and if the prices are low. And if I get to choose my own provider. And if everybody stops buying it :)

agree is dammmm expencive .. but hey at least you can get all this nice apps for free , thanks to some geeks out there ;)

why would you need to choose a provider ? you can unlock the phone and use whatever you like .

one nice feature that the iphone has is the Tethering . really nice.

Yes you can unlock (although I have read, that jailbreaking doesn't always have a perfect result), but you have to buy it at a good price first, and that's only WITH an expensive subscription at a provider that I don't want :) .

I wouldn't use tethering; I have a laptop with SIM card slot and besides that, a mobile internet subscription B) .

And I can have almost any app for WM for free as well B) .

Don't you think you'll miss the possibility of changing interfaces and ROMs on the iPhone?

B) Nobody was upset. It just felt a little like bragging :) And if we're on the subject ...I own both Omnia and iPhone...and though I love my iPhone for it's stylish look and awesome touchscreen, I really hate the UI....I got bored with the phone awfully quick. Even though it has a huge amount of app library I still feel that this is a kids phone. Most of the apps I tried are just for fun and utterly pointless. Still...I'm not selling it yet ;) , even though I mostly use my Omnia...Must be the fact that I love flashing things..lol. That and I love changing interfaces.

Cheers

The iPhone is more expensive than the Omnia 2 but only by 25% where I am. Lower resolution of the screen and camera as well, but I was able to do everything I was doing with my Omnia on the iPhone and then some more because of the app support except for one thing which is change the keyboard. That's the only thing you might have a hard time adjusting to, other than that....it's nice to have a solid stable OS that doesn't need rebooting, and it's just faster to get from point A to point B generally speaking because of the speed and design of the OS. It is a heavier device and gives you the feeling that it'll shatter into pieces of u drop it though ;)

Things I was able to do:

-Install Spb wallet and sync it with my gmail backed up from my Omnia(App)

-Setup MS Exchange to push/sync gmail mail, calendar, contacts(that's how I got my contacts back from Omina)(Built-in)

-IM and Social Network Clients(Apps)

-Install call/sms filtering with blacklist/whitelist/Passworded(App)

-Ebook Reader(if you read a lot, this part is a huge upgrade from wm devices)(App)

New things I can do:

-Chat service like Blackberry with Push and no setup(not usual IM. ex. WhatsApp pMessenger and others)

-iPod(many cars have iPod support)

-Grocery Gadget(online sync)

-Layar

-Nifty Desktop control over WiFi with XBMC support(iPhone screen becomes a trackpad...etc)

I'm not just going to list a long app list, because the amount of apps is just insane. And the speed and stability is noticeable.

So, you end up using the device more often than a wm device. And I don't play games even.

So, I'm assuming from that that iPhone doesn't have an e-book reader? Or there's no app for it? Either way, that's a major turn off for me; being able to read e-books is one of the main reasons I love my Omnia so much. It's so nice not having to helft a book around with me whenever I go away; it's just right there in my phone when I want it. Bliss!

For every plus that people say the iPhone has over it's competition there's another minus.

The only time I get jealous of the iPhone is when I read my daily Pocket Gamer e-mail and see there's another game for it. But then, I'm sure if I were to look hard enough there'd be an iPhone emulator or some other way to play these games on WM devices, I just haven't gotten around to it!

ROFL m8!

It's the same thing with me and my Mother... Only the other way around. Read:

"i was addicted with my Iphone too ... now my mum is using it B) ) lol"

And that's about it. The Iphone is a device that my mom loves and find it easy to use. I find it very lacking in features, but my Mom sure doesn't care about these features in the first place. I don't think that She'll like the Omnia, but for the exact same reasons that I love it for.

I think that says it all ;-)

Why is that, when you construct an argument in a logical way, people say things like the above? Feel free to bow down to me if you like! I was simply stating my opinion. Being as I live in a free country it's something I'm entitled to do. You're free to buy whatever phone you like. I'm not acting like it's rare for people to buy the iPhone; the exact opposite is true. The only reason I can see for buying one is the herd, or sheep instinct; you have no opinion of your own so you follow the most popular "fad". That's fine. There's nothing intrinsiclally wrong with that, but some of us perfer to choose on the basis of functionality instead of prettiness or what our mates have.

People buy an iMac because they think it's got the best OS, which is possibly true as it's based on the Unix system. But you can run Unix on a PC, so why pay several hundred pounds more? People buy iPods because they think the iPod has the best sound, which is patently incorrect as you'll know if you you're a true Audiophile. People buy the iPod Touch because... Actually, why do people buy it? You can see album art (while it's in your pocket?) and look at photos. And..? Anyway, what I'm getting at is that people generally buy these things because their mates have got them and, since their mates also follow the herding instinct, their mates have got them etc. etc. It's the same reason some people prefer Coke to Pepsi; because Coke is perceived as the "cooler" brand. Since I'm over the age of 12 I don't feel the need to herd, I like individuality and I like to be able to choose a product because of what it can do for me, not what I can do for the profits of the company making it.

Now, while you're down there, there's a spot on my boots you can lick off! :)

Congrats! However, in my case...I would rather buy htc hd2 or others with more features ^^, I won't replace my omnia with an iphone..

haha, the only thing I reckon the iphone has over the omnia is the screen sensitivity (but im sure If omnia had a capacitative screen, it would woop the iphone's ass) and the amount of accessories for it. yup, accessories :) I'm still searching for a flip leather case that doesnt use magnets lol but i don't think such a thing exists!

I had both an iphone and an omnia. I prefer omnia, I prefer Power! For me, iphone touch response is the only winner.

But most of the things an iphone can do, has been in wm long time, (except accelerometer).

I agree with the keyboard, you cannot change in iphone. I use by the way speedscript. for me its very handy sliding down letters.

One good example.

I usually get bored in interface.

Omnia can do an iphone interface, M2d, titanium, old professional WM look, samsung theme, spb, and most of all wisbar advance like lcars!

Iphone interface is boring. I always love to have a clean desktop with wallpaper and a neat clock and some calendar appointments. In iphone all I see are block icons.

And by the way, I also do some restart in iphone, and it also hangs some time.

This are just my opinion. Good luck with your new toy!

Do you mean LCARS as in ST:TNG? :) Gotta get that! Can you point me in the right direction at all?
