Hi,

As you can see in the title, this thread is focused on the possibility and feasibility of hacking HTC Sense UI On A1droid--Acer Liquid with Android. Additionally, due to HTC Sense UI for me to be brand new, the form of question-and-answer is considered as a good starting point, as described below!!

1> When it comes to HTC Sense UI with Android, we have to delve straight into HTC Hero Android Images in order to obtain what modules/components inside Hero Image to be involed in implementing HTC Sense UI functionality? That's cool enough!! :)

2> Based on the first step, we should have a big picture regarding the architecture of HTC Sense UI with Android in mind. Afterwards, in turn, the resulting outcome should be seved as a benchmark to further scrape out more information on the processes and procedures of porting HTC Sense UI into A1droid?

...

...

For these quetions above, please give me a hand in helping cross the barriers to the final goal, HeroSense-A1droid!! Most likely, that's is very right what you're looking for!! ;)

Thanks!!

two things come to mind

Screen resolution issues, HTC Hero's resolution is 480x320 where the liquid's is 800x480, bigger resolution, different screen ratio

How embedded into the Hero's system the Sense UI is. Its not a simple matter of ripping out an APK and some textures and dumping it onto the Liquid.

The G1 had to have the Hero's image modified and put onto the G1 for the sense UI. I guess the same must be done for the Liquid, which will lead to all sorts of driver issues

UI bugs, wifi, the battery, and the SD card aren't working

I would expect that to happen on the acer aswell

again, driver issues

so... either crippled phone with sense UI or working phone

one of the main reasons why I haven't put my old G1 to Android 2.0.x yet, the camera isnt working

And Hero Rom on G1 is extremely slow

should be pretty snappy on the Acer though

HTC actually made work on Sense UI for WVGA screens, I have a dump of that which I will port over. How functional it will be only the future can tell!
