Guest jezze boi Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) People are worried about flashing because there is a possibility of their phone getting bricked. I don't know if someone else already found the process I use when my phone gets "bricked". I tested it by flashing and purposely disconnecting my phone during the process. I have only tested this on my i910, not any other, but there isn't doubt why it shouldn't work. (confirmed by the Rob Storm that it does) What I do is: 1. After a failed flash, remove the battery or hit the soft reset button on the top. 2. When it barely shows the OMNIA boot-up screen, hold the "call" and "end" button until it asks if you want to format. 3. Hit the call button to confirm format 4. Connect phone and hit "detect" on the UMDL 5. Remove and insert the battery or hit the reset button on top of the phone to restart the flash process 6. Hope it successfully completes Again, most probably someone else found this out already but i see no solution on ROM topics. This rid any fear of flashing, let alone failed flashes. this will probably save you money from getting a new phone (unless you want a new one) Edited January 13, 2010 by jezze boi

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this. I have had to do this so many times I've lost count. @Paul: This should be a pinned topic. :)

Guest necosino Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Sorry to burst your bubble, but this isn't a bricked phone, just a failed flash, which, as you describe, works just fine to re-flash successfully. A bricked phone is when your phone is actually corrupted during a flash, resulting in your phone only showing a red LED, with no other power-on, and the battery won't even charge. Your phone will not turn on, cannot be reflashed, and the only solution is to replace it. Sorry :)

Sorry :) I made the silly mistake of flashing my Bell phone with the CF03.img file causing it to change to the Verizon network. I can turn the device on, but the functionality of the phone doesn't work (I can't call, receive calls, send txt etc.) but I CAN use all installed apps, and I can even install new ones. My battery doesn't charge either now (it says battery not supported). I'm guessing it's not bricked then? Is there hope?

Guest jaycarl Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 This is very important information to know and should be stickied.
Guest veritas-truth Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Ok, my omnia stopped working earlier when i wasn't flashing; It was acting up so i soft reset and it wouldn't let me access the start menu and phone and said i had no service. I decided to hard reset, what you were talking about, and after that it hangs at the verizon loading logo; I've tried reflashing and this method of hard reset and flashing and it still hangs on the verizon screen, also is the screen goes blank and i turn it back on, it is just a blank white screen... I think the only solution is to replace it. Edited January 14, 2010 by veritas-truth

Guest veritas-truth Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 How long have you had the phone and did you get it direct from Verizon? I got it mid September 09, and yes, I did. They had to ship one from the warehouse since they had none in stock at the store.

Call Customer Service; they will probably ship you another one as a replacement. If you want it quicker you can try the store, but since they were out of stock in September....

I had all my pictures on the internal memory and there is no way to access it... I guess I'll get a larger sd card and keep everything important on it.
