Guest helikopter Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 i find the output volume of the pulse very low when music is played through the headset, so i was looking for a solution since the first time i got it in my hands. i found an application that is available for the g1 (link: http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=919) but it doesn't seem to work with the pulse. i can install the app and push the needed files but it doesn't seem to have any effects on the volume level. however, sometimes after running some apps and doing usual stuff with the device the volume level suddenly increases, both through headphones and through the loudspeaker. i think that officially this should be considered as a bug but i'm very happy when it happens. i have the phone since the end of October and i'm using the MCR vanilla style custom rom version 1.1 since it was released (the december update doesn't seem very tempting to me). this "bug" happened only 2 or 3 times since then, and i could never figure out how to reproduce it. after a reboot the volume level goes back to normal (normal means: low) and running all kind of apps that have to do something with the phone's sounds doesn't change anything. my question is to the android gurus in this forum: would it be possible to find out which driver controls the sound of the device, and make a tweak to increase maximum level of output volume? it would be a great addition that i'd appreciate very much.

Why is the December update not tempting for you? It's main purposes are to improve stability and audio quality.
Guest helikopter Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 (edited) Why is the December update not tempting for you? It's main purposes are to improve stability and audio quality. i've never read anything about volume levels in reference to the december update. i think the mentioned audio quality improvement refers to the sound while in a call and things like that. i've never had any problems with that, that's why i didn't change. (and i'm also too lazy to get through a new system setup process as mcr 1.1 works very well for me.) can anyone confirm that the maximum volume level got higher after installing the december update? Guest helikopter Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 i just found out that the louder volume hack app which was originally written for the g1 is working perfectly on pulse. so anyone else having problem with volume just search for it in the market (1.50 GBP) or try pushing the needed files on your own. you can find all the details here.
Guest fivegoldstars Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Long time lurker, first time poster. Firstly, thanks to all this board's participants - reading this site was a major part of my decision buying the Pulse! I have had a problem with the audio being too low. Installed December update - no change in in-ear volume. Did not want to root just yet, so cannot install LVH. I made the decision to buy an in-line amp (paid about four quid from dealextreme). HOWEVER, I may have experienced this 'bug' today. I installed a music app (Mixzing Lite) from the store, cranked volume up full, and then nearly burst my eardrums. Funny thing is, when I tried the stock player, this now had the same, louder volume. Now, I'm listening a couple of clicks from maximum - before, maximum was not enough. Hope this helps someone!
Guest Dr Who Posted January 19, 2010 Report Posted January 19, 2010 Is the device volume limited because of the EU requirements? If so I guess it is possible that the bug corresponds with this limiting stopping working. Only a thought. Long time lurker, first time poster. Guest fivegoldstars Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Stranger and stranger. My volume is back to the lower setting. Have uninstalled a couple of apps, so will have a play later. Is the device volume limited because of the EU requirements?
