Google mail sync problem

I have been playing around with a few of the 2.1 roms and have now gone back to MCR 3.0 by restoring a Nandroid backup. I now have a problem with Google Mail, which is that if I delete a message on my phone, it does not get synced back to Google. When I check on my desktop the message is still there.

I tried clearing the Google Apps and Google Mail saved data and cache, but then I have to go through the account setup again and I get this error:

“Can’t establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services.”

Which from what I have read, the only fix for is a hard reset, so I restored from Nandroid again. Is there a way I can fix the sync problem without losing all my SMS messages and other settings?

You could use Mybackup Pro (or similar).

I had this problem and cleared my cache to sort it. I don't remember. having to go through any registration process though.

Does the error message still come up when you're connected over Wi-Fi?

Hmm yes that might do the trick. Haven't tried it over wi-fi tbh, will give it a go later.

Thanks for the suggestions :)
