Guest Falcon27 Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 Hi all expert, I wish to ask is Omnia i900 can connect to the internet using PC LAN connection? Currently my PC is connecting to the internet thru a router. So i with to use this connection and set on my Omnia to enable it to browse the net. Currently my omnia is using wm6.5 with Active sync 4.5. DO i require to set any setting on the phone? like setting the IP or DNS?
Guest ...angel... Posted January 6, 2010 Report Posted January 6, 2010 (edited) Yes, you can. Use the activesync...(via bluetooth or via USB) Then choose "work" as your default connection(menu>settings>connection>connectivity) on your omnia. It should work. Edited January 6, 2010 by ...angel...

Verizon offers one, but it requires an additional fee per month. I use PDAnet. It works great over a USB connection to the computer, or via Bluetooth and no monthly fees from Verizon. Google it for info. It works very good. There is also a topic on this forum about tethering the Omnia using some free stuff, but there were some issues with doing it that way.
Guest h8isgr8 Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 ....but there were some issues with doing it that way. No issues here. For connection sharing through USB, all you need is the ICS cab installed. I've been connecting like this for almost a year now.

Guest kav Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 (edited) why confuse the guy? try to understand his question first people,, dont just throw a bunch of other unrelated things at him. as said above, just use the usb cable provided with the omnia. install activesync v4.5 if u are running windows XP/98/Me on your computer. under Win Vista/Win 7 u dont need to install any other software. plug the cable and u can surf the net on the omnia. otherwise u can synchronise the omnia via bluetooth and get internet this way, but it will be slower internet connection via bluetooth than the usb cable. no ip or dns settings are required since anyways u are connecting via the computer to the internet. Guest Bouvrie Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Shameless self-plug: would anyone know how not to use the PC LAN connection to connect, but still have ActiveSync up? I want to use my 3G connection to connect to the Internet, and only use ActiveSync for MyMobiler connection. More info here. Falcon27, that thread might also give you some insight in the settings you'll need to set up for your intended setup. I believe you might need to configure some additional options of the Omnia, in the Settings --> Connections --> Browser Connection and Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Advanced I believe you should specify either Automatic, or the Work network. :)
