Cannot change keyboard, help please.

G2 using MoDaCo ROM v2.9 with teknologist 1.9 kernel.

I've been using the TouchPal keyboard for ages and today I thought I'd download and try some others. I've always found the Touchpal keyboard to be excellent though.

Anyway, I downloaded and installed a couple of alternatives. I selected one in settings and attempted to try it but the phone automatically used the default Touch Input keyboard.

I tried the Handcent keyboard, nothing doing - it still used the default Touch Input keyboard.

I tried to go back to Touchpal and still nothing doing; I'm stuck on the default keyboard. I've tried rebooting the phone to no effect.

Does anyone have any suggestions to resolve this?

Yes, I was doing this but the keyboard was not changing. However, it's started working again now by itself :)

You have to long press a text-box to change keyboards. Go to the main screen, and hit your search button. Then long press on the input-box that appears on the top of your screen. You should get a popup allowing you to change input-method.

Yes, I was selecting the appropriate keyboard but it wasn't actually changing after the selection.

It's OK again now.
