Pulse Alarm ringtones - they're awful, any suggestions?

Anyone found any better alarm ringtones than the ones that come as standard with the Vanilla ROM. There's only half a dozen and they're all designed to give you heart failure if you're in a deep sleep. Any better apps or add ons that have better sounds or even an option of an MP3 as your alarm. Couldn't see anything obvious on marketplace - Klaxon was mentioned on another thread but it doesn't say if it has it's own alarm ringtone library.

I know what you mean - I just started using the vanilla MCR and am missing the birdsong alarm...

You shouldn't need to download any alarm apps to change the alarm tones though - you can use any mp3 you want.

Open the file you want to use in music player and press the Menu button. Now select 'Use as ringtone' and it will be added to the list of alarm tones you can use.

It will also be set as your current ring tone so you'll have to change that back.

I just downloaded Math Alarm for 99cents and that gives you access to all of the available tones you have and makes you do sums before you can snooze. So far it's working although the pressure of working out 99 - 34 while still half asleep and the alarm blaring can be stressful.

it's not necessary to pay for an app to do that. you can install ringdroid or tonepicker from the market and they let you select any of your mp3s as a ringtone. they work in every part of the system where you can choose an alarm tone, including ringtone, sms and email alerts, stock alarm app and all kinds of other applications.

I have aRing. It does the same as the above mentioned apps.

I really miss my old Palm's MobileClock app. Works better than anything I've found for Android.

But I did "solve" the missing auto-snooze feature that MobileClock had but my current Android alarm clock doesn't, by just creating an MP3 with Audacity.

I found a music clip I liked for an alarm, cut it down to 30 seconds in length, did 15 seconds of fade-in, left five seconds at full volume, and then 10 seconds of fade-out. Then I pasted in another 4 minute and 30 seconds of silence. Exported it as an MP3. Voila, a poor man's "auto-snooze alarm clock".

I also created a REALLY LOUD old-school telephone bell ringer sound for a ringtone off of a recording. Audacity is very nice for these little projects.

Just download the MCR T-Mobile version, and unzip it

They are in that.
