Guest iirawkusll Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 So i just installed Windows 7 and tried all the ways to update HTC sync. I installed new HTC Sync and updated the HTC Driver manually. I've even did a fresh install, but HTC Sync doesn't recognize my device. i can access my phone through Command Prompt and everything, but it really bugs me that HTC Sync isn't properly working. any advice?

I was having serious issues with this, even following the workarounds detailed online. The key to success is stopping Win 7 updating drivers automatically when it recognises the ADB interface. Go to Start Menu > Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Hardware > Device installation settings and choose No, let me choose what to do, then Never install driver software from Windows Update. Then when you've uninstalled HTC Sync and HTC Drivers, and reconnect the phone to the USB, the ADB installation will fail, and you can choose the right drivers manually as per the workaround instructions. Keep it set like this while you're flashing the new ROM RUU too, otherwise it'll interrupt when it detects the new bootloader. Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip tris l, I don't use HTC sync but wondered why the drivers keep breaking!
