htc & ipaq devices can, so why not these?!

it is bad for battery life if your battery is fully loaded and it keeps charging.

best way for battery life: fully charge, fully discharge, fully charge , ...

When battery is full it will stop loading.

But as far as I know it's not possible to disable the loading :)

yes it stops for 10 minutes... after then minutes is will charge again.

and after 15 minutes you get a message, battery fully loaded, please release charger.

so .. no good :)

maybe porting an other usb/charger driver from another device. / customizedone.

(like gps mod driver .. -> works perfectly for the gps, maybe there is a customized driver)

try this:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\usbfndrv\EnableUsbCharging = 0

And it is not true that the best way how to use battery is fully charge and then fully discharge. Full discharge is not good for battery life.

Furthermore, they may be irreversibly damaged if discharged below a certain voltage

Indeed, A full discharge was needed some years ago, when Ni-MH batteries were used. Now, it's best to charge as much as possible, but only if an overcharge protection is build in. Anyway, the battery may never become to hot. When the battery is completely empty, it will need to charge a lot and the battery can become very hot, this is bad for the lifetime of Li-ion batteries.

So you better don't disable the charge over USB.

But does anyone now how to disable the message 'battery is fully loaded, you may now disconnect the charger'. It's annoying when this message comes up in the middle of the night :)

Why don't you try to customize the usb cable?

USB has two separate lines just for power.

If you try it I think it would be easier on the PC end where connector and contacts are bigger.
