I can not send any emails on my Orange HTC Hero.

I have four accounts on there, all download but none send.

I am using - smtp.orange.net, no security, port 25, login required unchecked.

Please help!

Hi

I had the same happen to me. Sending email using the Orange SMTP server just stopped working. I tried using authsmtp - that didn't work either.

Then I called Orange Data Support - they told me to use my ISP's smtp server. I said "surely that won't work?"

However, the blueyonder server (virginmedia) works for me and has been for a number of weeks now.

So maybe try your ISP's smtp server.

I had exactly the same thing start happening to me on Orange about a month ago - tried all the SMTP settings out there, nothing works...

Ended up having to use the settings for my BT Broadband account to send mail, (I receive mail from my work IMAP server fine...)

Generally speaking you can use any SMTP server to send mail.

For example, you can send mail from Google's SMTP servers. Usually no login is required, as seems to be the case with Orange, and most ISPs.

Some recipient mail servers (people you send to) will reject mail that has not come from the right SMTP servers, e.g. a message from [email protected] sent from a Google SMTP server, which is why you would normally use the mail provider's server.
