T - Mobile desktop: "Unable to add more icons"

Has anyone else seen the error "Unable to add more icons" when trying to add a shortcut to an application?

I didn't think I had that many links, most of the 6 screens are virtually empty. Would any of the custom stuff work better?

Possibly due to a shortage of space on your Pulse. Do you have many apps installed?

24 (I've been playing)

It seems very much to be an icon system resources type issue - you can install other stuff, but if you want to add an icon you have to delete another from the 'desktop' first.

I had the same error but did have quite a lot of widgets and icons as well as a bunch of apps. It was the main reason I installed a custom rom and so far there have been no more errors.

Which version of custom ROM?

Does that mean the 1.7 version of the Paul's MCR (with all the T-Mobile bits) that should be out soon has had some limits raised?

I've thought about installing a custom ROM, but the complexity (the need to install a recover rom first, to backup, then install the Dec update, then the new ROM) puts me off vs b*ggering up my new toy. Need an idiots guide to make it feel safe.

As long as your not bothered about wiping your phone its easy.

Put on the December Update FIRST.

Install Recovery, inside the recovery menu make a backup ... say one minute later select wipe in the recovery menu ... few seconds later apply update zip ... wait a minute and reboot. Done.

The recovery thread has all the instructions you need to install it and the menu is easy to navigate once installed pretty fool proof. Ignore formatting your sd card etc till you need/feel brave enough to move on.

Things CAN go wrong but main thing is dont panic.
