Guest useyourfist Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 hi i no if im connected to wifi my phone should auto use it for internet connections but sometimes it ends up connecting to orange 3g internet which is annoying as i have to exit and start over, soo is there a way i can set opera to connect only via wifi
Guest adzman808 Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 don't know - i might look at this today..... in comparision my phone behaves differently to yours if i make a wifi connection, whilst the cellular modem is running then the following happens opera - happily uses wifi, not 2/3g IE - happily uses wifi, not 2/3g gmail (pop3 not IE) - happily uses wifi, not 2/3g hotmail email account (via msn live not IE) - refuses to use wifi & i have to turn off the cellular modem* & then it happily uses wifi not sure if i'm gonna be able to fix this !!! Cheers *ie put phone into flight mode, then turn on only wifi
Guest adzman808 Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 i've had a little play with this but i'm less than useless :) with my phone if i want hotmail to use the wifi i have too 1 - turn off phone (ie cellular modem - not phone) 2 - turn on & connect too wifi 3 - open hotmail (or other cellular dependant app ~CDA~) 4 - turn back on phone (you can do this when ever u want, the trick is to open the ~CDA~ BEFORE you turn the cellular modem on) 5 - send/receive on hotmail - 2/3g wont be used it will use wifi connection see i said i was useless - must be a better way than this.... dailing rules?!!
Guest adzman808 Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 if you're just having this problem with opera... try HKLM\software\opera\defaults\IgnorePendingSocketsWhenActiveWiFi = 1
Guest die_Leuchte Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 A simple way to solve this issue would be to use bandswitch: http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-U...tch-37329.shtml Regards die_leuchte

Guest adzman808 Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 thanks to both of you i will try the reg edit and see how it goes microsoft really should incorperate better managment f things like this in window mobile 7 if in network settings you change your default connection to 'my isp' then it will never atempt to make a non-wifi connection again. of course if u want gprs or 3g back than its a few screen taps*, so perhaps not suitable if you regularly switch between modes... BTW my tg is unlocked (although still with orange sim) & drop down still works fine.... *start/settings/connections/connections/advanced tab/select networks/ 'select from drop down' (you can shortcut to the (2nd) connections by clicking the wifi or G icon in task bar on today screen)
