Guest Mike Beecham Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Ok, to say that I am a bit of a noob with flashing, etc is a bit of an understatement. I originally rooted my phone when MCR was at 2.3, and only managed it because of TheUnlockr's amazing videos. However, I've been using them for quite a while now, and read a lot about apps2sd, adbs, etc...and I want to get to understanding it and doing it. The first thing I wanted to do is clean out my dalvik-cache and notice that the Amon-Ra recovery image includes this now. I, however. have an old cyanogen recovery image...which is quite basic. So, I head over to the 'how to' document, and find some information on how I can do this on my linux machine. However, my first hurdle is that I'm getting an "insufficient permissions for device" message on the "sudo ./adb-linux shell reboot bootloader" entry. I wonder if any patient soul might be able to spend a little time with me, trying to get this resolved so that I can enjoy Hero to it's fullest. Thanks in advance. Guest kendon Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=537508 this did it for me. if you are using another distro than ubuntu you'll probably know how to adapt the instructions. if you are using ubuntu just follow them, afaik they should also work for 9.10.
