Guest Theboyjones Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 For those of you that are using your pulse on t-mobile Uk PAYG it is possible to send free texts using software called WebSMS which is free in the android market, I've been trying it out and it is really easy to use. It says that it only works in Germany but I can confirm that it does also work on t-mobile UK. Just remember in the preferences to change the Default int. prefix to +44 and away you go. A really neat feature is that recipients will still receive a text off you and not off a number, for example if you send your daughter a text using WebSMS and she has you saved as a contact called 'Dad' the text will still say its from 'Dad' and not from 077045555556 etc, neat. Good luck.
Guest Theboyjones Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Ah, I've just come across a problem, sending texts to 11 digit numbers starting with 077 is ok but i cant send to a 12 digit number starting with 077, anybody got any ideas how to get around this?
Guest Theboyjones Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 Right, i feel pretty stupid now because I don't know if this works or not;-) I've sent several texts using it and my balance has stayed exactly the same but I also sent a couple of normal texts and again my balance has stayed the same. I am on PAYG so i don't normally get free texts but maybe for some reason i have got free texts this weekend, i don't know? I haven't topped up in over a month so i am confused. Can anybody confirm if this works or not please?
Guest -IP- Posted January 9, 2010 Report Posted January 9, 2010 I can't confirm, but I can say that I appreciate the positive effort! :) So, please don't feel pretty stupid.
Guest Speckles Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 Did you try sending a text to yourself? That way you'll know whether it works or not. You can then double check by going to your T-Mobile portal and checking your recent history. If it says "TMO Network SMS", then they are being sent as normal, and so you will be charged as normal. It'll also tell you about any free offers you currently got. I've just noticed I've been given £2.43 free for some reason, although I'm certainly not going to complain about it :)
Guest michlaustn Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) The other day Lifehacker ran an article about TextPlus. Apparently that can be used to send free texts. I am not sure how yet as I do not have my Pulse yet to test it. http://lifehacker.com/5441423/textplus-for...up-sms-for-free http://textplus.gogii.com/ ---------------- I should have read the FAQ before posting this as it says; Does textPlus work outside the US? textPlus can currently only send messages to US carriers, but it can do so from anywhere in the world. Use textPlus to keep in touch while you’re on the road, or to text for free with your US-based friends from any corner of the globe. I guess if you have friends over there then it is useful.
