HTC Hero bad upgrade

I've been given a magic/hero to take a look at, and it keeps getting to the hero logo and rebooting, I can get it into bootloader and when it feels like loading the recovery menu you can't go up and down at all. I've tried to reflash the recovery menu but I'm getting nowhere even though its accepting the file

It looks like its recieved a bad flash upgrade to a custom ROM, at this stage I would like to just get it back to its official ROM or if its easier to go to custom.

I'm a little rusty when it comes to HTC ROM upgrading since my last efforts where on a Tytn II :)

Any advice would be helpful B)

I think this is where the problem may start. Its a Magic running hero software!

I take it (I know this may sound stupid) that these ROM's aren't cross compatable?

If you look in the folder (I just had a quick glance) it seems that Paul's done a version of a Hero ROM for Magic but I don't believe that just because they're both Android and both HTC that you can just flash them across platforms.

While you're more than welcome here, I think you'd best take this question over to the magic section, as it is the hardware type of phone that matters for these things.

I know little about magic, but what I do know is that there are enough differences that I wouldn't try and help with this (board revisions and the different spls needed for partitioning the storage to work with a hero Rom being an example)
